Pollinators

There wouldn't be any fruit mighty sweet.
There would be little left to eat.
There would be no lemons nor peas
If it wasn't for the bees.

In the magical way known only to them
Pollinators turn flowers into jam
Or rather fruit healthy and sweet
Which we lock in a jar or simply eat.

Vegetables face the same predicament.
Many of them need a little helping hand.
Peppers, aubergines, corn and beans
Tomatoes, cucumbers and even spring greens.

What would we do? What would we eat?
We'd only have those reliant on wind to breed.
Turnips and chard, salad and beets
Would be our only treats.

So let's protect our humble friends - bees.
Let's plant wildflowers and fruit trees.
Let's not forget the role of beetles, moths and butterflies,
And let's no longer believe in pesticides and other such lies.
