Shy as she was at first,
Spring soon arrived in her attire best.
Birds have been preparing for her for some time
Nesting and chirping, heralding springtime.
Kids soon ran out to play in the warming sun
Knowing that whatever they do outside it'll be fun!
Watching out for the first bumble bees,
Climbing their favourite trees.
Finding a stick suitable for a wand
Or a sword
Playing castles, ladies, knights and a great lord.
Jumping on the stones of a refreshing brook,
Baking mud pies and teaching the dog how to cook.
At last, rains brought refreshing showers
Sprinkling the grass with colourful flowers.
Timid first leaves sprouted in emerald greens
And cherry trees broke out in blooms like bashful fairy queens.
