Santi went fishing because the day was truly fantastic
To catch in his nets only a pile of plastic!
He could not believe that there were no more fish in the sea!
Where could they have gone? Where could they all be?!
And so he went each day to search in the ocean blue
For a sign, a sighting or any type of a clue.
At last, in his despair, he decided to dedicate his life
To cleaning the ocean so fish could again thrive!
Soon, he realised that his efforts were futile and small
As this was not a one-man job or a solo role!
He needed to get everyone else involved
To get this terrible mess resolved.
So marine species could return to their home fantastic.
So the waves would swash foam, not microplastics.
So the fishermen could go back to what they love to do.
So kids could splash like they used to do!
For we are not the only inhabitants of the planet Earth
Yet, we behave as masters of the universe.
We use and discard everything as we see fit
As if it all belonged to us and was limitless indeed.
