The sun's got up really hot today.
The sky's bluer than a gentian in May.
We shall have a marvelous day.
Let's grab some colourful blankets,
Board games, a kite, badminton rackets
And filled with goodies, a picnic basket!
Inside it, we shall carefully place
Strawberries, hummus, carrots, grapes
And ice-cream if there is any space.
By a river or a creek, in the shade,
All the games will be happily played.
That's where our picnic will be made.
We will play tic tac toe with painted stones,
Collect fragrant larch and pine cones
And everyone will forget their phones!
We may discover many a fascinating bug,
Skip a rope and play tag,
Create a merchant's ship waving a pirate flag.
Our energy fueled by the sun
Will let us skip in the meadow and run
We shall have so much fun!
We will watch the clouds float in the sky so blue,
Stir mud with sticks making a stew,
Smell wildflowers in the summer hue.
Hop in the river, climb a tree.
Go and observe a hardworking bee.
Be joyful, careless and free.
