The human world was briefly paused
With big factories and offices closed.
Families got closer amongst a lockdown
With deer, roos and pumas roaming the town.
Mother Nature took a deep breath
And quickly started recovering the Earth.
She cleaned polluted rivers and creeks.
The ozone hole got nearly fixed.
The air turned light and fresh anew.
The rain got clean and so did the dew.
The noise pollution nowhere to be found
Was replaced by sweet birds' sounds.
We all learnt again to greet a neighbour even from afar,
How important our kin and helping others are!
What we really and truly want and need,
And how blinded we've gotten by our greed.
Parents had time at last to play with kids...
My father became a pirate, mother Mary Poppins,
I dressed as Harry Potter, my brother dragon big,
Our little sister turned into a Peppa Pig!
We rediscovered running kites and climbing trees.
Hide and seek, treasure hunt and that we love bees.
We've uncovered coffers of wild imaginations
Which teamed with skills, led to new inventions.
Whilst missing our friends more than a bit,
We started studying and using our wit.
We found joy in art and creative crafts
And with our siblings made lifelong pacts.
Grandma and grandpa became our confidantes,
We talk to them daily, write letters and create beautiful cards.
By understanding what it's like to be stuck at home,
We became better humans and won't leave them behind and alone.
When at last we get our freedom anew,
Can go to school, theatre and football stadium,
Our friends will be dearer than ever before,
We shall treasure them that much more.
The world will surely become a better place
When we support local shops and cafés.
When we remember daily about kind words and embrace,
And that wild nature needs its space!
